Delhi the capital of India is a modern city with a historic past. A tour of Delhi will provide the visitor with much to see and admire from Mughal monuments to modern malls, from traditional arts and crafts to trendy fashion shows, from skyscrapers to parks and gardens - Delhi is a city that combines the historic and the modern in its own unique way.
The city of Srinagar is a gateway to some of the most scenic and beautiful places of the Indian subcontinent. The hill station and skiing resort Gulmarg is 50 km from the city. If you’ve longed for the delights of a houseboat holidays, now is the time to try one out. Srinagar is a unique city because of its lakes - the Dal, Nagin and Anchar. The river Jhelum also flows through a part of the city. When The Mughal emperor Jahangir visited the valley of Kashmir he was so enthralled by the beauty of this valley that he suddenly exclaimed "Gar firdaus, ruhe zamin ast, hamin asto, hamin asto, hamin asto" (If there is a heaven on earth, it's here, it's here, it's here). And if the visitors are coming here for the first time then they just can't deny what the emperor said.
Agra formerly known as Akbarabad, was once a symbol of Mughal power and aspiration, but it was also their residence and they filled it with lavish gardens and elegant palaces. The most famous monument in Agra is none other than one of the seventh wonder of the world, the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal is regarded as one of the eight wonders of the world, and some Western historians have noted that its architectural beauty has never been surpassed. The Taj is the most beautiful monument built by the Mughals, the Muslim rulers of India. Taj Mahal is built entirely of white marble. Its stunning architectural beauty is beyond adequate description, particularly at dawn and sunset. The Taj seems to glow in the light of the full moon. On a foggy morning, the visitors experience the Taj as if suspended when viewed from across the Jamuna river.
Jaipur, the Pink City, is located in the desert lands of Rajasthan. The city that once had been the capital of the royalty, now serves as the capital city of Rajasthan. The very structure of Jaipur resembles the taste of the Rajputs and the Royal family. In the present date, Jaipur is the major business centre for the natives of Rajasthan with all requisites of a metropolitan city. The city of Jaipur, painted in pink, grasp the appreciation of every visitor. One can see that hoary charm still alive in the avenues of Jaipur.
Arrive Delhi (No Meals)
Welcome upon arrival at IGI airport New Delhi. After meet & assist services, then transfer to hotel. Overnight stay in Delhi.
Delhi - Srinagar (B,L,D)
Breakfast at hotel, and then you will be transferred to airport to take a morning flight from Delhi to Srinagar. Upon arrival meet & transfer to Houseboat.
Lunch at Houseboat. After lunch half day local city tour of Srinagar to visit the Mughal Gardens, Shalimar Garden (Abode of Love) and Nishat Garden. The Shalimar gardens were built for Nur Jahan, by her husband Jehangir in 1616. Nishat Bagh is smaller than Shalimar Garden, but is more movingly beautiful. Nishat Bagh was built by Asaf Khan, Empress Nur Jahan's brother. Nishat is celebrated for its stately chinar (plane) trees, imported to Kashmir from Persia by the Mughals. Nishat has 12 terraces representing the 12 signs of the zodiac, which seems to gradually descend and merge in the Dal Lake's periphery. The terraces viewed along with the bed of flower, a mosaic of bright and beautiful colours, creates an unforgettable sight.
Then we proceed to dinner and overnight in the houseboat.
Srinagar - Gulmarg - Srinagar (B, L, D)
After breakfast, we will enjoy a trip to Gulmarg which is one of the most beautiful hill resorts in the country. Gulmarg hill resort boasts of not only picturesque locales, but also of the highest golf course in the world. The drive to Gulmarg is as beautiful as the hill station itself. Alongside the road, the scenery changes from boulevard of poplar to smooth vastness of rice fields, sprinkled with some pleasing villages. The fir-covered hills characterize the ascent to Gulmarg, Kashmir. Stop to admire the breathtaking sight of snow capped mountains.
The drive to Gulmarg is filled with a number of colors, changing with the season. From the translucent green of spring to summer's rich emerald to autumn's golden hues, the scenery has something to offer in every season. The "Meadow of Flowers" counts amongst some of the best tourist spots of the world.
There will be a hot picnic lunch.
We return to Srinagar in the evening, then dinner and overnight at Houseboat.
Srinagar - Delhi + Agra (B, L, D)
After breakfast we will take a ride on a Shikara or Kashmiri boat on The Dal Lake to enjoy the beauty that God has graced this city with which is often compared to Venice?
After an early lunch at the Houseboat we will proceed to the Airport to catch a flight to Delhi.
Uopn arrival in Delhi we will drive to Agra (210 kms - 4.5 hrs). On arrival in Agra, check in to the hotel then proceed for dinner and overnight stay at hotel in Agra.
Agra - Jaipur (B/L/D)
Breakfast in hotel. We proceed to a sightseeing tour of Agra city. First we visit one of the world’s most popular monuments – Taj Mahal (it is closed on every Friday) built by Mughal Emperor Shah-Jehan for his Empress Mumtaj Mahal. The construction believed to have taken 22 years to complete with over 20,000 craftsmen working round the clock.
Then proceed to the magnificent Agra Fort, built at the bank of Yamuna river, which is situated in the center of the town. Various styles of the architecture are evident within the fort & demonstrated the love of Mughal Emperors towards building beautiful monuments.
Lunch at hotel. Then will drive toward Jaipur (235kms, 5:30 hrs). Enroute visit Fatehpur Sikri - 37 kms from Agra. The deserted city of sandstone was built by the Emperor. The city is rectangular in shape with nine huge gates & inside there are palaces, meeting halls (public/ private audiences), huge courtyards.
Afterwhich check-in at hotel. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Breakfast at hotel. Proceed to visit Amer Fort - 11 Kms from Jaipur is Amber, the ancient capital of Jaipur state. The Fort Palace was constructed in 1652 by Raja Mansingh and it was later extended & completed by the Jai Singh before the move to Jaipur. Enjoy an elephant ride while climbing up to the Amer Fort.
We return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon visit Hawa Mahal (Palaces of the Wind)- a beautiful pink colour building having many small windows from where the Royal Ladies watched the annual procession of kingdom. You can take photograph from outside only. Then visit City Palace - the principal residence of the former ruling family and is known for its stunning architecture. It also includes museum, courtyards, and gardens.
in the evening there is free time for shopping. Jaipur is a city of vibrant colors and markets (bazaars). Jaipur's colorful markets offer a great break to stop and shop on your tour. While moving through the markets, you will come across the various cultures of this region. Jaipur is the perfect place to shop for Handicrafts, antiques, jewelry, gems, pottery, carpets, textiles, metal work and leather ware.
In the evening, we will return the hotel for dinner & overnight stay.
Jaipur to Delhi + Departure (B, L, D)
Breakfast at Hotel. After breakfast drive to Delhi (265 km, 06 hrs). On arrival, transfer to a local restaurant for lunch.
In the afternoon we proceed to visit Jama Masjid - one of the Architectural gifts given by Shah Jahan. Jama Masjid is one of the largest mosques not only in Delhi but in India. Completed in 1658 this Mosque has three gateways, four angled towers and two 40 m high minarets. You can enter the mosque but take precaution to take off your shoes and make sure that you are properly dressed before entering. One can also go to the top of minarets. From here you can have a bird's eye view of Delhi. The India Gate - at the centre of the city (42 meter, high stone arch) is a memorial raised in honour of the Indian soldiers who fought & died in the campaign of world war 1 & Afghan war. The President House - built in 1929, once the Imperial residence of the British Viceroys and now official residence of the President of Indian Republic. The Parliament House – this circular shaped building houses the two houses of Parliament- The Lok Sabha (lower) & Rajya Sabha (Upper). Its domed central hall is 90 feet in diameter.
In the evening we proceed to dinner at a local restaurant and then you will be transferred to the airport for your onward destination.
