The harsh and hauntingly beautiful landscapes of the Canterbury Plains will take your breath away. You can take refuge here too—enjoy some time out, soak in the views and replenish your batteries.
Milford Sound is a fjord in the south west of New Zealand's South Island, within Fiordland National Park and the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site. It has been judged the world's top travel destination in an international, and is acclaimed as New Zealand's most famous tourist destination. Among its most striking features are Mitre Peak, rising 1,692 m above the sound, the Elephant at 1,517 m and resembling an elephant’s's head, and Lion Mountain, 1,302 m, in the shape of a crouching lion. Lush rain forests cling precariously to these cliffs, while seals, penguins and dolphins populate the water.
Discover the rugged scenery along one of New Zealand's most awe-inspiring highways. Your journey will take you past breathtaking sights, from high mountain peaks to the blue lakes of Wakatipu, Dunstan, Wanaka and Hawea. The Haast Pass, the southern most pass that connects the communities of the East and West, is humbling. Marvel at the vast rainforests to the clearest waterfalls that eclipse this untouched landscape.
The viewing platforms overlooking Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers show the sheer size and beauty of these natural wonders and provide fantastic photo opportunities.
