The name Tekapo derives from Maori words Taka (sleeping mat) and Po (night). The lake is a spectacular turquoise colour due to finely ground rock in the glacial melted waters. Summer or winter, snow-covered or golden yellow, the surrounding mountains and turquoise lake make a spectacular backdrop for the Church of the Good Shepherd.
Milford Sound is a world-renowned natural wonder. Nowhere else in Fiordland do the mountains stand so tall, straight out of the sea. Luxuriant rainforest clings to sheer rock walls and waterfalls tumble hundreds of metres to the sea below.
In Maori legend, this landscape was created by Tu Te Raki Whanoa, a godly figure who carved the fiords with a magical adze. Without doubt, Milford Sound (Piopiotahi) is his finest creation. Whatever the fiord’s mood – brooding and wet, or tranquil in the sunshine – it will inspire you.

Day 1
ARRIVE CHRISTCHURCH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Upon arrival at Christchurch International Airport, meet and greet by our representative before transfers to hotel.
After check in, free at own leisure for the rest of the day.
Day 2
CHRISTCHURCH – MT. COOK – QUEENSTOWN (B)
After breakfast, depart from Christchurch across the broad expanse of the Canterbury Plains with the snow capped peaks of the Southern Alps to the west. Enter the foothills near Geraldine and ascend Burkes Pass into the barren Mackenzie Country.
View the Church of the Good Shepherd, dedicated to the early pioneers of the region and the Collie Dog Memorial overlooking the milky blue waters of Lake Tekapo. The world famous Church of the Good Shepherd offers awe-inspiring views of Lake Tekapo and the Southern Alps through its altar window.
Next, proceed on a journey into the Mt Cook National Park. A stop at the Mt Cook Alpine Village allows time for you to enjoy the scenic majesty of New Zealand's highest snow capped peaks before travelling to Queenstown.
On arrival check into hotel and free at own leisure for the rest of the day.

Day 3
QUEENSTOWN – MILFORD SOUND – QUEENSTOWN (B)
Your departure from Queenstown trancends you to an unforgettable journey into the heart of Milford Sound, one of the most iconic destinations in NZ, and for good reason.
You'll then proceed to the stunning Mirror Lakes, a great place to stop off and spend exploring and photographing, before passing through the Eglinton Valley, to Homer Tunnel, emerging above the Cleddau Valley.
At the deep waters of Milford Sound, board your cruise, where you'll experience the world famous fiord - rich in dense rainforest, glacier carved valleys and beautiful waterfalls.
Overnight in Queenstown.

QUEENSTOWN (B)
After breakfast, free at own leisure where you can explore the city or enjoy your time in the hotel. It is your choice.

After breakfast, proceed to Christchurch.
