The 300-year old city Yogyakarta or simply Yogya, is one of the foremost cultural centers of Java. Located at the foot of the active Merapi volcano, Yogyakarta was in the 16th and 17th centuries the seat of the mighty Javanese empire of Mataram, from which present day Yogyakarta has inherited the best of traditions.
The city itself has a special charm which seldom fails to captivate the visitor. Gamelan, classical and contemporary Javanese dances, the wayang kulit leather puppet theater and other expressions of traditional art will keep the visitor spellbound. Local craftsmen excel in the arts of batiks, silver and leather work.

Jogjakarta city guided sightseeing tour with a visit to Kasongan Village, and have a close look at ceramic handicraft passed down from generation to generation. Explore Kotagede, well known as the center of silver handicraft, an inheritance of the Old Mataram Kingdom. Your guided walking tour in Kotagede will include a visit to Royal Mosque of Mataram.

JOGJAKRTA- MT. MERAPI VIEW – BOROBUDUR – PAWON (B/L)
Today guided touring will start with a scenic drive through the winding road to Kaliadem, viewing the Merapi Volcano from the distance. Jogja is home to numerous thousand-year-old temples as inheritances of the great ancient kingdoms; visit Borobudur temple, a UNESCO World’s Heritage, and the biggest Buddhist temple measuring 123 x 123 meters. This Buddhist temple has 1460 relief panels and 504 Buddha effigies in its complex. 3kms eastward of Borobudur are Candi Mendut & Pawon they are Buddhist temples built in 824AD but architecturally it’s a blend of old Javanese Hindu and Indian art. In Mendut you have an insight to the Javanese culture and tradition; then visit a traditional house and observe the local daily way of life. You may try a cup of Javanese tea uniquely served with the Gula Jawa (Javanese Brown Sugar).
Later, return to Jogja with a stop along the way at Salak Fruit Plantation where Salak (snake skin fruit) is grown.

JOGJAKARTA – CITY WALKING TOUR – PRAMBANAN TEMPLE (B/L)
A guided city walking tour will start from the Keraton, the Palace where the Sultan and his family of Jogyakarta used to live. Visit Taman Sari, known as water castle; this was once a splendid pleasure park of Palace, pool and waterways for the sultan and his entourage. Stroll through the Jalan Malioboro, a major shopping street in Jogjakarta. Sidewalks on both sides of the street are crowded with small stalls selling variety of merchandise and Batik. Visit Fort Vredenburg, a fortress built in 1765 by the Dutch during Colonial times, to protect the Dutch governor.
Later, drive eastward to Prambanan Temple, the biggest and most beautiful Hindu Temple in Indonesia, which is also a UNESCO World’s Heritage site.
