As the capital of North Sumatra, Medan has a very strategic position and is the third largest city in Indonesia after Jakarta and Surabaya. There are consulates of foreign countries and it is the primary center of activities of northern Sumatra. In the Malay language "Medan" means a large place to gather.

Lake Toba is the highest and deepest crater lake in the world with a depth of over 450 meter. Lying at 906 meter above sea level.

Lake Toba was formed by a stupendous prehistoric volcanic explosion. The eruption was 75.000 years ago and leaving a spectacular caldera with wonderful landscapes. The explosion with Volcanic Exposivity Index of 8 caused volcanic winter for many years which decimated almost all living things on earth. The resulting 630 km square of land mass in the center of the lake, now known as Samosir Island, is the world's fifth largest island lake. It is also arguably the world's largest island within an island.

Berastagi is a small town in the Karo highland of Nort Sumatera. The name of Berastagi means 'rice store' since the area is highly fertile and produces fruits and vegetables besides rice and sugar can. Berastagi is wellknown for its fruit and vegetable markets as the main economic activities. This hilly areas is quite cold in climate compares to Medan and other cities in North Sumatera.

Day 1

MEDAN – TEBING TINGGI – PARAPAT (L,D)
Arrival at Medan airport, then transfer to local restaurant for lunch . Continue the journey to Parapat / Lake Toba, drive along the road which offers the endless view of rubber , palm oil , cocoa plantations and paddy fields . Stop at Pematang Siantar to buy some local snacks : ting ting , teng teng , kerupuk / crackers etc . Check in to hotel and dinner in Parapat. Evening walk and shopping souvenir in Parapat .

Day 2

PARAPAT - SAMOSIR ISLAND TOUR – BRASTAGI (B,L,D)
After breakfast at hotel , Samosir island tour by boat : visit Tomok kampung to see the Batak King’s tombs / Raja Sidabutar and Ambarita kampung to see the traditional Batak village with the stone court and the execution place / Raja Sialagan. After lunch in Parapat , take the bus ride to Brastagi : visit Simarjarunjung / the highest point by Lake Toba , Batak long house / Rumah Bolon and Sipiso piso waterfall . Check in to the hotel and dinner in Brastagi .

Day 3

BRASTAGI – MEDAN (B,L,D)
Morning visit Gundaling hill to see the two active volcanoes in Brastagi : Mount. Sibayak (2.172 m) and Mount. Sinabung (2.417 m) and Pasar Buah / Fruit Market . Proceed on two hour jouney to Medan . After lunch in Medan , city tour and shopping : visit Istana Maimoon / Sultan Palace , Mesjid Raya / Grand Mosque , Batik house , Pusat handbroidery / sulam / telekung , Medan Mall / Sun Plaza , Chinese temple cemara asri , Indian temple balazi , gereja velankani etc . Dinner and check in to hotel in Medan .
 

Day 4

HOTEL – AIRPORT (B)
Breakfast at hotel . Free program waiting for your transfer to Medan Airport . Fly home with a beautiful memory from Indonesia.
