Phnom Penh is the capital and largest city of Cambodia. Located on the banks of the Mekong River. Once known as the “Pearl of Asia”, it was considered one of the loveliest French-built cities in Indocina in the 1920s. Phnom Penh, along with Siem Reap and Sihanoukville, are significant global and domestic tourist destinations for Cambodia. Founded in 1434, the city is noted for its beautiful and historical architecture and attractions. Situated on the banks of the Tonle Sap, Mekong and Bassacrivers, the Phnom Penh metropolitan area is home to more than 2 million of Cambodia’s population of over 14 million. The city is the wealthiest and most populous city in Cambodia and is home to the country’s political hub.
ARRIVE – PHNOM PENH (D)
Arrive at Phnom Penh International Airport, greeting by our tour guide and transfer to hotel for check in. The rest of the day free at own leisure. Dinner served at local restaurant.
PHNOM PENH (B,L,D)
After breakfast, proceed to visit Royal Palace & Silver Pagoda. Royal Palace was built in 1866 on the site of the former citadel, and a crowning example of Cambodian architecture and the official residence of Khmer’s King. Silver Pagoda was named as such due to the 5,000 silver tiles (each weighing 1kg) lining the floor of the temple. Also on display is the holiest Buddha image in Cambodia, Preah Keo (the Emerald Buddha). There to the National Museum where thousands of Khmer artifacts and ancient antiques are on displayed.
Afternoon we continue to visit Wat Phnom Temple, is the symbol of the Phnom Penh Capital built in 1434, from where you can enjoy views over the Tree-lined avenues of Phnom Penh and then continues to visit Victoria Monument
In late afternoon take boat trip for Sunset in front of the Royal Palace at the Four Rivers
DEPART PHNOM PENH (B,L)
After breakfast, check out and proceeds to Toul Sleng, a memorial to the atrocities of Khmer Rouge Regime. Later, we will take a drive to visit Independent Monument which was inaugurated in 1958 to celebrate Cambodia’s independence from French rule and to commemorate the soul of the combatants who laid down their lives for freedom of the country.
Lunch at local restaurant follow by own shopping at Central Market or the Russian Market. Thereafter, transferred to airport for your flight back home.
